Terms of Service: Permanent & Pensionable


Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidelines of a designated supervisor. Duties and responsibilities will entail;-

General fitting

i.              Participating in assembling machinery and equipment according to technical specification;

ii.              Taking part in aligning and connecting mechanical components;

iii.               Participating in testing machinery to ensure proper functioning;

iv.               Cleaning and lubricating machinery component to ensure optimal performance:

v.               Taking part in replacing and replacing defective parts such as bearing, gears, valves and pumps;

vi.               Cutting and fabricating tasks to repair metal components; and

vii.                Collecting and collating data on records and inventory pertaining to general fitting services

Machining/ turning

       I.         Machining      to    perform    turning,     grinding,     milling,     facing,    boring, drilling, threading, grooving, operations on metal work pieces;

     II.         Loading raw materials such as metals bars rods or billets into the lathe and secure them safe for machining;

    III.         Taking part in setting-up manual or computer numerical control (enc) machines according to work piece specification and engineering drawing:

   IV.         Installing cutting tools, toolholders and work holding fixtures such as chucks, collates or centers;

     V.         Replacing damaged or defect cutting tools and sharpening them to maintain cutting performance;

   VI.         Operating machining tools and equipment’s; and

  VII.         Collecting and collating data for records and inventory pertaining to machining services;

Welding

          

    I. Cutting, shaping, assembling of materials and operating of welding machines;

     II.         Performing visual inspection and tests such as dye-penetrant, ultrasonic pressure tests to verify integrity and strength strength of welds:

    III.         Undertaking welding maintenance works; and

   IV.         Collecting and collating data for records and inventory pertaining to welding works and equipment

Blacksmith

        I.         Heating metal in a forge until it reaches malleable temperature and shape metals;

       II.         Joining metal components to ensure proper alignment and maintain structural integrity. and aesthetic appeal;

     III.         Taking part in heat treatment on metals to enhance its mechanical properties;

     IV.         Maintaining tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity;

      V.         Operating equipment and machine;

     VI.        Taking part in inspection and testing metal works to ensure dimensional accuracy and structural integrity in adherence to specifications: and

   VII.        Collecting and collating data for records and inventory pertaining to forging works and equipment

 

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment of this grade. a candidate must have:

i.              Government Trade Test  II  in  any  of the  following  options;  General  Fitting,

Turning Welding, Blacksmith from a recognized institution; and

Proficiency in computer applications

Note: Successful Candidates:

Successful candidates will be required to obtain the following documents and present them to the Machakos County Public Service Board: -

·            Tax compliance certificate from KRA

·            Clearance certificate from HELB

·            Clearance certificate from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)

·            Certificate of good conduct (DCI)

·            Credit Reference Bureau Clearance
